Home is where we sleep eternally

Going home literally means going to our place of dwelling but for a patient who is sick for quite a long time in the hospital, it’s actually going back to our creator. A 90 year old widow who has been under my care for almost 20 years whispered to my ear that she really wanted to go home. With tears in her eyes and mine, I nodded my head in disagreement with so much pain in my heart. It means that I have to remove the machine that helped her breath and stopped all her dextrose and medicines but her family also requested it. And so I obeyed and when she arrived home, the lady just opened her eyes slowly and smiled sweetly then went back to sleep. She was really home indeed.
